About
Most AI projects fail not because of the technology but because the people building them don't understand the business well enough, and the people who understand the business can't build anything.
I spent the first half of my career in procurement and supply chain. Running sourcing projects, implementing supplier management systems, negotiating contracts, building cost reduction frameworks for large public and private sector organizations. That work taught me something most engineers don't get until much later: the gap between what a business says it needs and what will actually solve the problem is almost always larger than anyone wants to admit. Getting that right requires knowing the domain, not just the tools.
Along the way, I taught myself to build. Not just as a side project but because I kept running into problems that needed software solutions and I was tired of watching them go unsolved because no one on the technical side understood the business context. Over the last several years I've built AI systems across procurement, healthcare, financial services, and operations: RAG pipelines, NLP automation, RPA data consolidation, and full production platform builds from zero. I've worked with executives who don't speak technical and I've been in the code directly.
I'm currently building an AI-native procurement platform for municipal government clients as a solo engineer. I'm based in Chicago and available for fractional and project-based engagements. If you have a real problem, reach out.
